I wrote it shortly after taking a second trip to IELTS test, in my spare time, not really for making a change in my careers, but to hone my writing skills. I don't mind if I would make a poor show here by sharing it with all of you. It's aimed at gathering your valuable comments so I can make it a perfect one, and if any possible, giving you a rough idea what a cover letter is like when you set off to apply for a job.

Logistics Supervisor
XXXXX Petrochemical Ltd, Storage and Handling Plant
Nanjing, Jiangsu, China, 2100**

Dear Sir or Madam:

I would appreciate an opportunity to talk with you soon about how I could contribute to your organization through my background in the logistics field as well through my skills and knowledge related to all phases of shipping/receiving, customer service, warehouse operations, and supply management gained while serving in the Sinopec.

As you will see from my enclosed resume, I excelled as a Logistics Supervisor at Storage and Handling Plant (a.k.a Logistics Center ), from 2003 to present. At the Central Receiving Point for this installation, which is one of the nation’s largest petrochemical bases, I accepted and processed millions of dollars worth of raw materials such as crude oil and naphtha and of a large variety of petrochemical products, which were then distributed to customer units throughout the country. Among my accomplishments in this position were providing supervision and guidance for up to 10 people, training as many as 80 people in logistics policies and procedures, and applying computer skills while processing support documentation for multimillion-dollar inventories.

During this period of time at the Logistics Centre, I was selected to receive special training in hazardous materials handling, storage, and transportation and then earned certification as a trainer in this specialized area. I earned my second Special Achievement Medal for my professionalism and dedication after earning my first Achievement Medal in Supply and Marketing Company, in which I served in turn as a Warehouse Records Technician, Assistant Shipment Manager and Freight Processing Specialist.

If you can use an experienced logistics supervisor or manager who offers a reputation as an articulate and enthusiastic professional who can be counted on to find a way to achieve results and exceed goals, I hope you will contact me to suggest a way by which we might discuss your needs. I can assure you in advance that I could rapidly become an asset to your organization.

Sincerely,

Angelonduty

在美加, COVER LETTER不是RESUME的重复,而是在这里突出你的技能和专业经验(planning skills, organizational skills, communication skills,5 years work experiences in Logistics ....), 用一句话讲明什么时候什么地点你怎么样得到的这种技能.

Ms. Sue Monette
Attorney Recruiting Specialist
Diamond Lupia & McBride LLP
2000 Courthouse Plaza N.E.
10 South Wacker
Chicago, IL 60606

Dear Ms. Monette:

I am currently a second year law student in the top 30% of my class at The John Marshall Law School
searching for employment as a law clerk for next summer. I am interested in Diamond Lupia & McBride
LLP because of its location in Chicago where I plan to reside permanently after graduation, the strong
reputation of the firm in the legal community, and the emphasis your firm places on mentoring new
lawyers.

My work this past summer at the Illinois Court of Appeals instilled in me a strong interest in litigation
and appellate work. By working at the Court, I was able to gain a better understanding of the procedural
aspects of litigation and appellate procedure. I was also able to improve upon the strong writing base
provided by the Legal Writing Program at John Marshall by composing various memoranda of law and
drafting decision and final judgment entries. My writing ability and understanding of litigation was
supplemented by my work as a research assistant for Professor Kevin Hopkins. Throughout the summer I
worked with him composing a chapter on arbitration for an Alternative Dispute Resolution textbook. The
understanding I have gained this past summer of how litigation and alternative dispute resolution interact
is a very valuable skill I believe would be of great benefit to Diamond Lupia & McBride.

I would appreciate the opportunity to meet with you in person so that we could discuss further the skills
and experience that I believe would benefit your firm. My resume is enclosed for your review. I may be
contacted at (773) 886-4582 and look forward to hearing from you soon. Thank you for your
consideration.

Sincerely,

Christine L. Garcia

Dear Sir or Madam(如有具体人名最好,否则可能HR看也不看就扔一边了):

I would (虚拟一般是表示不可能,在求职信中不大用,太弱) appreciate an opportunity to talk with you soon about how I could contribute to your organization through my background (中式) in the logistics field as well through my skills and knowledge (与background 重复) related to all phases of shipping/receiving, customer service, warehouse operations, and supply management gained while (语法有错) serving in the (多余) Sinopec.

I appreciate if I have an opportunity to talk with you soon about how I can contribute to your oganization with the skills and knowledge I gained in the following fileds of transportation, inventory control, warehousing, purchasing, and operations when I serve as supervisor in Sinopec.

Currently I work as Logistics Supervisor in Sinopec. I am interested in your position Logistic Consultant you post on Octobor 02,2006.

As you will see from my enclosed (可语化)resume, I excelled (用词不确切)as a (多语,中国人常犯这错)Logistics Supervisor at Storage and Handling Plant (a.k.a Logistics Center ), (前面两个逗号表明这句是插入语,那么As you will see from my enclosed resume from 2003 to present通吗from 2003 to present(前面动词要用现在完成进行时)

改为
I have been working with Sinopec and serving as Logistics Supervisor at Storage and Handling Plant (a.k.a Logistics Center ) since 2003.

At the Central Receiving Point for this installation(没注意到这是啥?我不懂), which is(多余) one of the nation’s largest petrochemical bases, I accepted (你接受了,拿回家了,用词错,而且你现在还在做)and processed (PROCESS是工艺化过程你能做吗?) millions of dollars(这些东西很贵没必要讲,行业里都知道,要用要说raw materials worth millions dolloars) worth of raw materials such as crude oil and naphtha and(不熟悉你的产品,但感觉上连词用的过多) of a large variety of petrochemical products, which were then distributed(派送用ship更恰当)to customer units throughout the country.

At the Central Receiving Point, one of the nation’s largest petrochemical bases, I have been managing raw materials worth millions dolloars such as crude oil, naphtha, and a large variety of petrochemical products and shipping to customer units throughout the country.

At the Central Receiving Point, one of the nation’s largest petrochemical bases, I am assigned to coordinate daily load activities by speaking with customers, carriers, suppliers and vendors insuring that goods are picked up and delivered on time.

Good. Thank you for your positive answer. I hope my revision will be helpful for you to create a North-American style cover letter. I am glad to see you are so positive. You must be successful in your future career planning and development.

Among my accomplishments in this position were providing supervision and guidance for up to 10 people, training as many as 80 people in logistics policies and procedures, and applying computer skills while processing support documentation for multimillion-dollar inventories.

[My work experience demonstrated my leadership and supervisory skills. Currently I supervise 10 full-time workers. In addition, I have provided training courses for almost 80 trainees in logistics policies and procedures, which demonstrated my teaching skills and interpersonal/communications skills. I also have the experience on the creation of documentations by using Microsoft Office tools. Other achievements included that I was awarded by the company twice as the best Logistics Coordinator, respectively in 2004 and 2005.]

[The above is NOT necessarily elaborated in cover letter, you can tell them about these facts during the interview.]

[Use the last paragraph from the sample letter I pasted in the previous reply.]

I have completed many projects.

SUPPORT, liaison, resolve problems ,organizational skills, time management skills, manage many activities at one time, work in a fast paced environment with rapidly changing priorities ,communication skills,等关键词,HR看东西是很快的,职业的缘故,他们不会一字一字读你的信,眼扫一下,就决定推荐给主管还是扔在垃圾桶里.
