The child care fee subsidy rules have changed.
On January 1, 2007 the method for determining eligibility for a child care fee subsidy changed from a needs test to an income test.
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]To qualify for subsidy the following conditions apply:[/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]You must be living in Toronto (unless you are an employee of the City of Toronto and qualify for fee subsidy under the workplace policy). Contact our Kidsline at 416-392-KIDS for information about applying for fee subsidy in other municipalities. [/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]You must have filed an income tax return as we will need the information from Line 236 on your most recent Notice of Assessment/Reassessment and the amount of any Universal Child Care Benefit (if applicable). [/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Visitors to Canada, including foreign students, will not be eligible for fee subsidy. [/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]Fee subsidy is available only to help you with the cost of child care while you are in an approved activity. We can provide you with information to help you find a child care arrangement that is flexible enough to meet your needs for full-day or part-day child care based on your involvement in one of (or a combination of) the approved activities listed below: [/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]You must be employed OR [/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]You must be actively conducting a self-employed activity (i.e. you claim business expenses against your income) OR [/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]You must be in school or in a training program (but not taking a correspondence course) OR[/FONT]
[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]You must be in an Ontario Works activity as approved by your Social Services caseworker. [/FONT]
