Job Description
Key Objectives
Product Architect for the new self-service check-in applications; Bag-drop, Mobile Check-in and Remote Bag-drop. These self-service products are either installed at airports or remotely accessible to provide cost effective self-service for airline passengers with baggage or mobile devices.
Key Accountabilities
Lead the design and development effort to ensure the designers, developers, integrators and testers build the system according to the agreed architecture
Mitigate technical risks associated with a system
Create system architecture that meets the following service level requirements: performance, scalability, reliability, availability, extensibility, maintainability, manageability, security and regulatory compliance
Make sure the system meets business requirements
Consider trade-offs, constraints and competing technologies in making architectural decisions
Document the SOW or Functional Specification or Functional Requirements in use case format
Create High Level Design documentation that clearly demonstrate system architecture, technology and design decisions
Guidance for solution designers to scope site implementation
Create base line operations document
Work across organizational lines, with Product Management, the Line of Business, software designers and development teams, to provide process and technical leadership in the design, build, delivery and marketing of related products
Liaise with other technical members to generate a common understanding of related products, projects and technologies used
Candidate Profile
Proven experience in the design and deployment of distributed systems using J2EE and BEA WebLogic. (2 full projects minimum over a period of 2 to 5 years, including architecture framework, functional domains integration and deployment process for near-real-time 24x7 transactional applications)
Knowledge of airline business processes.
Proven expertise in Java technologies including strong core Java, J2EE( EJB, MDB, CMP, BMP, JMS), JDBC, web services (SOAP), XML, JSP/servlets, Javascript, applets.
Multi-threaded development and concurrency patterns
Persistence frameworks, SQL, Oracle 10g RAC (clustering)
SDLC, Object-Oriented Design (OOD) using UML, Design patterns
Version control system (CVS or other), Defect tracking system
The ideal candidate should also have experience in, or possess working knowledge of:
Stored procedures
JBuilder, Eclipse, IBM Lotus Notes, IBM PMOffice
HP Open View / Operational monitoring of an enterprise application
Linux Enterprise Server and open source application and web servers, frameworks and database engines (JBoss Application server, Apache Tomcat, Spring, Struts, Tiles, Hibernate, MySQL, ...)
Object-Oriented Analysis (OOA) using UML, modeling case tools (UML), RUP, XP
