Gardiner Expressway and DVP closed for Ride For Heart and Road Resurfacing
The Gardiner Expressway and the Don Valley Parkway will be closed on Sunday,
June 6 to accommodate the Ride For Heart event. During the Ride For Heart
closure, the City will also be involved in road resurfacing work on the
westbound Gardiner Expressway outside of the area designated for the event.
The closures are as follows:
· At 2 a.m. on June 6, the westbound Gardiner Expressway, from Carlaw Avenue to
Islington Avenue, will be closed.
· Southbound traffic on the Don Valley Parkway will be diverted onto either
Richmond Street or Lake Shore Boulevard. Westbound traffic on Lake Shore
Boulevard will be diverted north at Windermere Avenue to The Queensway.
Motorists can then travel further west to access the westbound Gardiner at
Islington Avenue. This closure is for the completion of road work that began
last weekend.
· At 3 a.m. on Sunday, June 6, the Don Valley Parkway will be closed in both
directions from Highway 401 to the Gardiner Expressway. The eastbound Gardiner
Expressway will be closed from the Humber River to Carlaw Avenue. As noted
above, the westbound Gardiner Expressway, from Carlaw Avenue to Islington
Avenue, will also be closed at this time. These closures are for the Ride for
Heart event.
· At 2 p.m., the Don Valley Parkway and the Gardiner Expressway will re-open.
"By combining our road maintenance work with the Ride For Heart event, we are
able to avoid closing the road at a later date and thereby minimize disruption
for road users," said David Kaufman, General Manager, Transportation Services
Division, City of Toronto.
