In China now everything is so expensive. I never suggest anybody to ship stuff by sea. It is costly and you will find it really unnecessary. For example clothes and shoes in China can't fit here's weather. Shoes bought in China can't last long as the shoes here. Here you can buy good quality stuff in cheaper than China.

Sorry, but are we in the same Calgary? The clothes here are conspicuously more expensive than in China. I did some window-shopping here and found that the shoes here were all made in China. What is ironic is that some shoes are just the same as the ones exhibited in supermarkets in Shanghai, probably churned out in the same sweat workshop. So I highly doubt whether they can last longer than their Chinese counterparts. But if you are talking about Nike, Adidas, well, it's true that they can last longer.

Above being said, I still agree with 醉酒当歌 on that shipping by sea is not a good idea. Bring clothes and electric appliance you have with you.

I agree with 醉酒当歌, because I bring some shoes from China, I find it is not very useful here. The shoes bought here are comfortable and of high quality. Maybe you bring some necessary stuff but not too much.

Agree!

If your staff is not very heavy, you can ask post office in China.

Long time ago, my parents asked the local post office to ship three boxes of cloth and books for me, and each box is around 50 cm3. It didn’t cost lots of money at that time, but it took one and half month from China to Vancouver.

What is ironic is that some shoes are just the same as the ones exhibited in supermarkets in Shanghai。

The custom told me after the landing, only the first two years shipments are tax free.

But I was told that there is 10 years term when I landed at Ottawa. Since new immigrants have no time to go back to fetch it....

We should confirm this after...again....

Well, since you are talking about Adidas, Nike, New Balance, Columbia, etc., you got me there. But I have no inclination towards these brands so far. I still stick to the sweat-shop-wears so far and I feel quite comfortable inside them since I'm a morally corrupted bastard who pays no attention to the human rights in China:wdb6:.

I prefer urban wears so these famous brands' clothes don't attract me much. I love hip hop hoodies, for instance. But Nike will never produce hoodies like that. But I do appreciate their shoes though I've never worn them. But I've a pair of K-Swiss shoes which, though I have never put on, I still can feel the superiority over the sweat-shop counterparts.

But I can't quite catch you in the saline resistence stuff about the leather shoes. Why do leather shoes have to be resistant towards salt? My uncle (he's a local by the way) bought two pairs of leather shoes when he travelled to China and feel quite contented with them. He complained that the local ones have leather soles and are too slippery.
