Police clock car at 'insane' 250 km/h on Toronto highway
A motorist has been charged with stunt driving after allegedly being clocked by police doing 250 km/h on a Toronto highway.
The driver of a high-performance Infiniti was pulled over early Tuesday morning on Highway 400, just south of Finch Avenue, police said.
OPP Sgt. Dave Woodford told CBC News the driver showed a dangerous disregard for his own safety and other roadway users.
"I think it's insane that someone would even think of going this fast," Woodford said. The driver faces a maximum $10,000 fine and the gain of six demerit points if convicted. The vehicle was impounded for a week under the province's street-racing legislation.
The driver has not been identified, but police said the person also owns a high-speed motorcycle.
