Firstly, check this out for salary. It is US based but still informative for Canadians. Be aware of the difference between actuary and actuarial student. http://www.actuaryjobs.com/salary.html
Secondly, the most challenging thing IMO, is to land an entry level actuarial job upon graduation. Passing many exams do NOT guarrantee you a job. Sometimes it can be a negative asset since no employer will hire a candidate with ASA designation but zero experience.
