* Recent Bachelor of Science degree or equivalent in a molecular-based life science. Students should come to the course with strong theoretical knowledge of the following: Biochemistry, Molecular Genetics, Cell Biology, and/or Microbiology.
* English 12 (B or better) for those students who do not have university level English courses or English-language proficiency (COMM 0015 and COMM 0033 or TOEFL with TWE and TSE are acceptable).
Students who do not meet these requirements should consider upgrading or completing education to meet the above requirements.
BC provincial exams
For programs beginning in August 2007 or later which require Grade 12 Math and Science courses, BCIT will not require the applicant to write the provincial exam. Provincial exam marks will still be required for English 12, Communications 12, and Technical and Professional Communications 12.

It is strongly recommended that you assess your fundamental mathematical skills. The below Math Self-Diagnostic Test is voluntary. If you find these problems difficult, we strongly recommend that you attend OPMT 0199. You should be able to do this exercise in about an hour, after which you should compare your answers with the correct ones supplied. If you scored less than 20 out of 26 correct, you should seriously consider upgrading your mathematical skills.

Advanced Placement
Applicants who already possess a university degree, Associate of Arts Degree or a Diploma of Technology may be eligible for direct entry to the second year of any Financial Management program. Applicants who have completed the equivalent of the first-year program at BCIT may also be eligible for direct entry to second year. Please note that FMGT 1100 and FMGT 2100 (or the equivalent), with a grade of 70 per cent or better, is required to enter the second year of the program.
