I have seen this kind of post in other forums, so i start to ask myself that why not we start to make one topic a day to practice the English writing skill here as well. it is somewhat like writing an essay , but not so formal. you can write down what happen to you or how you spend your day, or you can just follow the topic i give and write something about the topic, use your imagination. :)

Today's topic: weather

I woke up this morning, the sky was beautiful, i thought it was going to be a sunny day, but it had rained for a couple of hours during this lunch. it stopped raining a few minutes ago. now the sky is turning into blue and clear again. I took a deep breath, the air freshed my mind, all of sudden i see there is a beautiful rainbow across the sky.

P.S. it's not real the above article i wrote, it's just a story i invented. :D

Guys, feel free to express yourself here.

justin_zhu : 2005-11-02#10
Sorry, here is something I would like to say:“I”always is “I” wherever it is. not "the above articel" but "the article above". Can you across the sky? "in the air" or "in the sky" is much better.

Oops, thanks for your correcting about the typing of "I" .

"I" is formal, "i" is casual. When you chat with somebody online, you don't have to be so formal, so you can just type "i" , anyway thanks for your help.

"the above artcle" and "the article above" are both right. I have to correct you about this too. The above artle's "above" here is an adjective(形容词). Above has 3 different usages, adjective, adverb, preposition. So the use of "the above artcle" I used is absolutely right. I am very certain about this.

Now,let's talk about "across the sky". Justin_zhu you have totally misundertood the word "across" I used in my article, "across" is a prepostion here in my article, so you cannot say " can I across the sky?" , because across is not a verb. Across is not cross, cross is a verb, so you can only say "can I cross the sky?"

:wdb4: Now I have to say " Mr. Zhu, your English is quite messed up. " :wdb25:
