请教：为什么要交护照，什么时候把护照退还

当然是签证了。

没办法，单位春节前组织出国游也去不成了，只能编理由推脱掉了。

我也问了这个愚蠢的问题，下面是大使馆12月一号的答复：
Please be advised that we require all original passports for everyone so that we can put the visa in them. You can send the rest of the documents to us as we have requested. However, if you would like to submit the passports at a later date you can chose to do so. We will not be issuing visas till next year. However, we can not issued the visas without the passports.

因公出国人员持用外交护照、公务护照或因公普通护照。如党政机关、人民团体、企事业单位包括股份有限公司、股份合作制企业、国有或集体控股或参股的有限责任公司(不包括私营企业、外方独资企业)，与外方合资、合作企业中的中方人员等因公务出国，均应分别申请上述三种护照。

　　因私出国人员持用因私普通护照。如出国定居、探亲、访友、继承财产、就业、旅游、留学等私人事务及外商独资企业的人员、私人企业、个体劳动者出国进行经贸活动等，均应申请因私普通护照。劳务人员和在校学生出国，也应持因私护照。

　　外交护照、公务护照、因公普通护照由外交部和外交部授权的地方外事部门颁发。

因公普通护照适应对象不同,能不能办取决于你所在公司的性质. 比因私护照麻烦得多!

要护照当然是贴签证用，所以要交的是因私护照，也就是普通护照。
LANDING PAPER是另外的，会与护照一同返还给你

刚才在bbs里看见他们有的案子，体检后六个月都没有消息，不知道要求他们寄护照没有？
如果护照六个月都取不回来，就惨了，怎么到别的国家？

如果要用护照，可以先不寄，寄了也可以去信再要回来，等用完了再交给使馆。

化了多长时间才要到手？就是从要到拿到要多久？

上午去使馆交书面申请,下午取护照.(每周1-4均可).
