西方酒文化基本常识及酒吧英语

西方酒文化基本常识简介及相关酒吧英语 最近我看了一本教美国人怎样变得更有时尚意识,生活更有品味的书。其中谈到的关于西方品酒文化的基本常识令我受益匪浅,于是秧秧我今天这里现学现卖,将书中的精华部分加上自己的关于酒文化的经历介绍给大家,并且为某些生僻词注上了英文发音。如果有哪些对酒非常有研究的网友发现我说的有什么不妥,请一定告诉我。我希望经过我的简单介绍,从今以后,大家再去西式的bar(酒吧),club(社交俱乐部,夜总会)或是在高档餐厅用餐时不会再对自己不熟悉的西方酒文化心生畏惧了。
  在我具体介绍之前,有一部电影我想推荐给大家,名叫“sideways”。这是一部很有富有人生哲理的电影,独立制片,小制作,却夺得了多项奥斯卡提名。这部电影有很多关于美国酒文化的情节,因此我在这里介绍给大家。下面这个录像是这个片子的预告片,开头部分就是两个男主人公??一个品酒行家和一个门外汉在一起尝酒的有趣情节。考试大
  在中国的餐桌上,大家喝的酒一般是啤酒(beer),诸如燕京啤酒,青岛啤酒等等,或是白酒,如茅台,五粮液,北京二窝头等等。在美国,喝啤酒的人很多。但是,我很少见到美国人有直接喝酒精浓度很高的白酒,这和中国很不同。此外,我极少见到美国人在餐桌上互相敬酒。大家通常都是各喝各的。只有在某些特定场合,大家才会一同举杯。这样的时刻通常是在某人致辞之后,大家交相举杯,祝福某人,为某人某事庆贺。
  在英语里,“酒”统称为alcohol或是liquor(即为酒精的意思),而酒类专卖店的英文说法是liquor store。纯酒精也许多不同种类。我在下面列出了在西方大家熟悉的几种alcohol。有些alcohol的名字由于是从法语或是意大利语等非英语演绎而来,因此发音规则很不同于正常的英语发音。我给大家在这些词旁边提供了正确发音(你只需点击一下小喇叭的符号)。以下我将介绍的酒种因为自身品质口味的不同,有的可以直接饮用,而有的则需与其他alcohol和/或者其他果汁,牛奶等等相搭配才可以:
  vodka(伏特加酒),也称Russian Vodka(俄国伏特加)。这种无色的伏特加酒既可以被单独品尝,也可以和其他成分的果汁混在一起做成鸡尾酒(cocktail,我在后面的文章中会继续解释)。vodka是一种在美国非常流行的相对低酒精浓度的酒(light liquor)。伏特加酒一般是粮食做成的。
  gin(中文翻译成为杜松子酒)。它也是无色透明的,用粮食做成的。这种gin和vodka都是比较流行的较低酒精浓度的酒。
  rum(朗姆酒)--一种用蔗糖做成的酒。这种酒也是烹饪时常见的一种调料。
  tequila(特奎拉酒).这是一种用墨西哥产植物龙舌兰制成的烈酒。在美国,如果你去墨西哥餐馆,大部分菜单上的酒都是这种酒。
  kahlua(不知道中文怎么翻译,查不到)。这种酒精的颜色是深棕色的,味道尝起来像甜甜的咖啡。
  vermouth(味美思酒,苦艾酒)。这是一种由加度葡萄酒制成的酒,(由酒制成的酒,呵呵),因此味道比较强烈。有很多vermouth都被用来当炒菜做饭的调料之一。
  Wiskey (威士忌酒)也称Scotch Wiskey (苏格兰威士忌)。它是由谷物做成的。
  说实话,以上提到的酒到了我嘴里都是一个味道??酒精。本人对酒精一项不是特别感兴趣,所以从来也没有认真研习过。但是行家或是经常饮酒的人就对不同的酒精非常敏感了。尤其说到之后我要提及的葡萄酒(wine),他们懂酒的人(往往是些钱多得没处花的人)经常是尝一小口就能说出酒的成分,品质,就像在电影“sideways”里,那个懂酒的行家握着呈酒的杯子,看看,闻闻,尝尝,一下子就可以嗅出酒中散发出不同的味道。此外,好酒和普通酒的区别,他们一尝也能立即辨别。
  鸡尾酒( cocktail)在国人耳中一定不会陌生。鸡尾酒的含义就是不同的酒精与其他如果汁,牛奶的液体混合在一起调成的看起来非常美丽的饮料。对于喝酒刚刚入门的人们来说,去酒吧或餐馆叫一杯cocktail是明智的,因为大部分时间里,鸡尾酒其实就是加了一些酒精的果汁。
  但是你可别上来就跟侍应生说:“我要一杯鸡尾酒”。那会让人笑掉大牙的。Cocktail是mixed drinks (混合饮品)的总称。顺便说一下,在酒吧里,如果你听到别人说“on the rocks ”,他的意思是说“with ice(加冰)”,而“straight up”的意思是“不加冰”。下面我就来给大家介绍一些比较受欢迎而且好喝的cocktail:
  Black Russian (黑俄国人): 由伏特加和kahlua(咖啡口味的酒)混合在一起调成的。
  White Russian: (白俄国人):由伏特加和kahlua还有牛奶混合调成的。(因为加上了牛奶,“黑俄国人”一下就变成了“白俄国人”。这是我特别喜欢喝的,因为感觉就像在喝巧克力奶。)下面这幅图片就是 White Russian。
  Greyhound: vodka + grapefruit juice (西柚汁)。
  Long Island Iced Tea (长岛冰茶):gin + rum + tequila + vodka +triple sec (尝起来像橙汁味道的果汁) + sour mix (柠檬汁加糖浆混合而成的)。这个cocktail可是应有尽有了。美国大学生和刚刚入门者都比较喜欢这种鸡尾酒调法。
  Madras: 伏特加 + cranberry juice (由一种很小的酸酸的红色水果制成的果汁。这种水果我在国内好像没有见过,但在美国非常常见) + orange juice (橙汁)。
  Mai Tai : 黑色朗姆酒+菠萝汁 (pineapple juice)。(在美国, 什么东西里有菠萝汁的成分,立刻这个东西就可以被冠名为tropical (具热带风情的)。那么那些带有菠萝汁成分的饮料既是热带饮品了。)我喝到过的最好喝的Mai Tai是在泰国。不仅好喝,而且好看,因为我的 “Mai Tai”被装在了一个被掏空的菠萝里面
  Margarita: 特奎拉酒+sour mix +鲜柠檬汁。酒杯周围有时会有盐粒。这种酒在墨西哥餐厅会非常受欢迎而且非常普遍。
  Rum and Coke: 顾名思义,朗姆酒加可乐,就是带酒精的可乐。
  Screwdriver: 伏特加+橙汁。没什么创意的鸡尾酒。说白了,就是带酒精的橙汁。
  Seabreeze: 伏特加+cranberry juice +西柚汁。
  Sex on the beach: 入门人士经常点的。我就是其中之一。它由伏特加,cranberry 汁,菠萝汁等调制而成。有个好玩的故事。我曾经和一个好朋友去酒吧。她叫了一杯“sex on the beach”。她说:“I’d like to have sex…”她一时喉咙干,讲到sex那个词时停了一下,只见那个招呼她的侍应生两眼一亮,以为他们之间肯定有下文。但是我的朋友清了清嗓子,接着把“on the beach”说完了。那个服务生眼中的光芒顿时全消。所以下次大家在叫这个酒时,千万要一口气把名字说全了。Tequila Sunrise: 一种美丽又好喝的鸡尾酒,由特奎拉酒,橙汁和一种好喝的红色糖浆混合而成。推荐指数5。你看下面图中的tequila sunrise是不是真的很像日出(sunrise)时的景象呢?
  说道鸡尾酒,不得不提martinis(马丁尼酒)。它是鸡尾酒中的经典,由杜松子酒(gin)或伏特加酒与苦艾酒(vermouth)混合而成的。这种酒通常是与橄榄或是柠檬片一起出现的。承载martini酒的酒杯通常是高高的三角杯,很特别,非常的漂亮。以下这幅图就是经典的Martini杯子的款式。
  同样道理,martini 也有很多种,因此大家也不要一上来就叫一杯martini。好喝的Martini有chocolate martini (巧克力马丁尼酒)和apple martini (苹果马丁尼酒)。经常看sex and the city(性感都市)的朋友酒应该知道剧中女主人公Carrie的最爱就是“Cosmopolitan(大杂烩)”,这是一种由cranberry juice和西柠檬汁混合而成,但是没有苦艾酒(vermouth)成分的martini。Cosmopolitan也是相当好喝的。下面这幅图是apple Martini (青苹果马丁尼酒)。
  现在我们来谈谈葡萄酒。
  在美国较高档餐厅里用餐,你总会拿到一个令人眼花缭乱、很长的葡萄酒的单子。看着那么多不知所谓的酒名字,不熟悉葡萄酒的人准会吓出一身冷汗。但是如果一个一个让侍应生来介绍,又会显得很没有面子。正确的做法是对葡萄酒有些简单的了解,记住一两个选择,到点酒时候就点那些自己熟悉的。葡萄酒在英文里是“wine”。它大约被简单地分成三类:
  第一类,Table wines (桌面上的葡萄酒)。一般大家饭桌上喝的,和食物相搭配的都是这一类的酒。Table wines 有红葡萄酒(red wine)和白葡萄酒(white wine)两种。白葡萄酒一般凉着供应(served chilled),而红葡萄酒则在室温下供应(served at room temperature)。红葡萄酒一般都有些年头了(Reds are aged),而白葡萄酒则不是。通常来说,白葡萄酒比红葡萄酒要清淡些,而且因为是凉着供应,因此比较适合在夏天饮用。当然,是选择白葡萄酒还是红葡萄酒最主要还是要看你的主食吃的是什么。
  如果你吃鸡肉,鱼肉,沙拉,白汁意大利粉(pasta served in cream sauce),日本菜或是泰国菜等感觉上比较“清淡、易消化”的主食,那么白葡萄酒是比较理想的选择。如果你的主食是红肉(red meat)(牛肉,羊肉等等都被认为是红肉),炖煮的菜肴(stew),西红柿酱意大利粉(pastas in tomato sauces)等感觉上比较“沉”的食物,红葡萄酒就是你应该选的了。
  在高档餐厅用餐时,通常桌子上会摆着两只不同的用来承葡萄酒的杯子遍,一个用来呈放红葡萄酒,一个用来承放白葡萄酒。往往呈放红葡萄酒的杯子杯子形状更圆些,敞口更宽些,而呈放白葡萄酒的杯子则相反,长些,开口宽些。为什么会这么设计呢?大家想一想。这和它们所呈放酒的性质有关啊。(提示:红酒在室温下供应,而白葡萄酒则在冷冻状态下供饮。)
  第二类,Sparkling Wines (起泡沫的葡萄酒)。这样的葡萄酒只有在特殊场合才会供应。香槟(champagne)就是sparkling wines 中很有代表性的。香槟和其他sparkling wines的区别在于用来制香槟的葡萄一定是源自法国的一个香槟小镇。而用来制其他泡沫葡萄酒的的葡萄则不一定长在法国。什么时候,场合大家会开香槟呢?一般在婚礼,庆功宴上,大家都会开香槟表示庆祝。饺子的出版商在他的新书取得成功后为他开了个庆祝会,席间大家的杯子都倒上了香槟。装香槟的杯子比较特别,通常是细长的,敞口较小的高角杯。
第三类,Fortified Wines(加度葡萄酒)。这是一种浓度很高的葡萄酒,通常和甜品(desserts)一起供饮,或是作为晚餐后的饮品。
  因为Table Wines 中的白葡萄酒和红葡萄酒是日常生活中最常见的,因此我来具体介绍一些关于它们的不同酒种。

白葡萄酒主要有一下几种:
  Chardonnay :可以算是最受欢迎的的白葡萄酒了。Chardonnay尝起来略微会有橡树(oak),黄油(butter),还有些青苹果的味道。这种酒通常是在橡树桶里发酵并沉酿的。
  Chablis:这是一种用来自法国北部一个较Chablis地区葡萄制成的酒。味道比较淡。
  Pinot Grigio:这是一种浓度较低,没有甜味的(dry)白葡萄酒。(在英文里形容酒没有甜味,称为“dry”。)这种酒会隐隐透出苹果或是梨子的味道。
  Riesling:这是一种浓度比较低,略带甜味和花香的白葡萄酒。偶尔你还会品出桃子或是甜瓜的味道。
  Sauvignon Blanc:这是一种相对酒精浓度较低,没有甜味的酒。略带草药的味道。
  红葡萄酒相对白葡萄酒来说浓度较高,因此在寒冷的冬天用来暖暖身体是个非常不错的选择。这里有一点提醒大家,喝红葡萄酒的时候,最好时不时去洗手间照照镜子,因为红葡萄酒的颜色较重,有时候会在下嘴唇留下一道印记或是把你的牙齿染色,因此时不时清理一下可以避免出洋相。
  下面来介绍几种常见的红葡萄酒:
  Cabernet:这种红葡萄酒通常口感润滑(smooth),深红色会让你联想到红得发紫樱桃。Cabernet在红葡萄酒中算是最受欢迎的,也是最普遍的。
  Chianti: 这是一种来自意大利的,清新爽口,无甜味的红酒。
  Merlot: 制成这种酒的葡萄喝上面提到的 Cabernet 葡萄非常相似,只不过颜色更加深红些。这种酒味道包含了非常多的元素,有种独特的芳香,有时可以隐约品味到玫瑰,橡树,甚至是巧克力的味道。
  Pinot Noir: 这种酒比上面提到的Cabernet 和 Merlot浓度来得低,会令你隐约领略到水果的芳香。在sex and the city 里,我注意到有几集,Charlotte在餐厅里点的都是这个酒。这里有件趣事,自从电影“sideways”中的男主角在电影中贬低Merlot,抬高Pinot Noir之后,Pinot Noir的销量直线上升,而Merlot的销量直线下降,很多喜爱那部电影的fans们从此开始认为Merlot就是不如Pinot Noir 来得有档次。
  Zinfandel: 这是一种略带淡淡的甜味和水果芳香的酒,但它通常不是行家的首选。
  这里有一点要和大家提一提,喝葡萄酒时一定要慢慢喝。千万不可以抱着“大家一干为净,不醉不休”的态度。如果时那样的话,就太违背喝葡萄酒的初衷了。葡萄酒应该这样喝――They are to be sipped, savored and appreciated. (像鉴赏一样的慢慢小口饮)。 如果你真的很口渴的话,可以向侍应生要一杯水,总之千万不要把葡萄酒当解渴的工具或是饮料那样来喝啊!

  转载如下: 和老美去酒吧喝酒聊天是件很有趣的事. 因每当大家三杯下肚之后, 一些有的的、通常不讲的小秘密或是一些不为人知的心酸故事都可以在这时候听到. 所以这是一个能够交到知心朋友的好地方. 只不过老美的酒吧通常都不是很舒适, 不但很吵很拥挤,空气也很糟, 而且还常常有人喜欢站着喝酒, 所以我去了几次之后反而很怀念家乡那些又高雅又气派的酒吧. 这次我们要看看如果有一天你和老美到一个酒吧去喝酒, 有哪些东西是你该会的.
  1 Do you like to have a drink with us?
  你要不要和我去喝两杯啊?
  Drink 这个字虽然是「喝」的意思, 但是如果有指明是喝水 (drink water) 或是喝其它的东西, 则多半指的是喝酒 (drink alcohol) 的意思. 所以如果人邀请你 "Wanna have a drink with us?" 你可呆呆地回答, "Drink what?" 那可是会笑死人的喔! 另外像是如果听到某人有很严重的 drinking problem, 指的就是他有「酗酒」的习惯啦! 而不是说她喝东西有问题. 不过在速食店的话是一个例外, 因为大家都知道速食店是不卖酒的. 所以如果店员问你, "What kinds of drinks do you want?" (你要什么饮料?) 则很明显这 drinks 指的是 soft drinks 的意思.
  2 Draft, please.
  请我生啤酒.
  在国内大家耳熟能详的 XO 在美好像不是很多人知道? 我曾跟几个老美谈过 XO, 但是他们都没有听说过. 老外要喝XO通常是会讲 cognac (空尼亚可)--法文发音,而且后面还要加上一句要二十五,三十年的。
  Draft 是啤酒的一种,中文翻译为“生啤酒”,我这么说大家会有些概念吧!生啤酒通常是装在一个大通里,要喝的时候水龙头(tap)一扭就是好大的一杯酒,所以酒吧的门口通常挂着都大的“on tap”招牌,就是由此二来。此外老美喜欢用一种超大的相一个球一样的杯子来装生啤,这种杯子应为交“fishbowl”,以其大小跟鱼缸一样而得名。
  3 Do you want domestic or imported beer?
  你是要国产的还是进口的啤酒?
  如果你是第一次到一个酒吧想点杯啤酒, 但却对啤酒一点概念也有. 通常这候人就会问你是要, "Domestic or imported?" 简而言之就是问你要国产啤酒或是进口啤酒啦. 像是 Bud Lite, Budweiser 是在美国生产的, 所以属于国产酒 (domestic), 如果像 Heineken 是在荷兰生产的, 那自然就是 imported 了! 有趣的是美国人的崇洋媚外心态也是很强的, 至少以我本身的经验, 如果你和老美出去点了一个Bud Lite, 人可是会觉得你很「逊」的喔!
  4 I am still sober.
  我还很清醒.
  有一个道理大家都知道, 喝醉的人很少自己醉了. 如果你要说自己醉了的话, 就是 "I am drunk." 或是俚语的讲法可以把 drunk 换成像是 afloat, all at sea, bashed, belted 或是 boozed. 但如果你坚持自己是清醒的话, 就是, "I am sober." 要是你要强调自己非常清醒的话, 则可以说, "I am stone sober." 或是 "I am cold sober." 还有一个跟酒醉有关的字叫 hangover, 中文翻译成宿醉, 也就是指喝醉酒后隔天早上醒来头痛等等的症状. 例如你一早醒发现头痛得不得了, 就可以说, "I’ve got a hangover. Having a hangover sucks." (我还在宿醉啦. 宿醉真讨厌啊!)
  在此顺道提醒各位, 在美国对于酒后驾车的处罚非常重, 所以酒后千万不能开车, 如果只是小酌的, 老美都会再三提醒我, 一罐啤酒至少要休息一个小时后才能开车, 二罐至少要休息两个小时后才能开车, (因地而异, 像 Virginia 每个人可以喝的啤酒数量与体重成正比) 喝超过三罐的话就绝对不能开车, 不然是会被控 DWI (driving while intoxicated) 或是有些地方说 DUI (Driving under influence), 是会被关起的.

随着我国日益走向国际化,餐饮业也面临着走向世界这个问题。因此,作为餐饮业的从业人员,或多或少地懂一点有关餐饮方面的专业英语,是非常必要的。

餐饮专业英语主要包括日常会话用语、烹饪技术用语和中餐英文菜单等等,而这其中尤以中餐英文菜单用得最为普遍。要将中餐菜单翻译成英文,就先得了解中餐菜名的构成及命名方法。中餐菜名通常由原料名称,烹制方法、菜肴的色香味形器、菜肴的创始人或发源地等构成。这种反映菜肴内容和特色的命名方法叫做写实性命名法,此外还有反映菜肴深刻含义的写意性命名法。
由于汉语和英语的差异很大,我们在把中餐菜名由中文译成英文的时候,应该采用写实性命名法,尽量将菜肴的原料、烹制方法、菜肴的味型等翻译出来,让客人一目了然。将以下几点"公式"(中英文对照)介绍如下,以供大家参考。
一、以主料开头的翻译方法
1、介绍菜肴的主料和辅料:
公式:主料(形状)+(with)辅料
例:杏仁鸡丁chicken cubes with almond

2、介绍菜肴的主料和味汁:

二、以烹制方法开头的翻译方法
1、介绍菜肴的烹法和主料:
公式:烹法+主料(形状)
例:软炸里脊soft-fried pork fillet
烤乳猪roast suckling pig
炒鳝片Stir-fried eel slices

2、介绍菜肴的烹法和主料、辅料
公式:烹法+主料(形状)+(with)辅料
仔姜烧鸡条braised chicken fillet with tender ginger

3、介绍菜肴的烹法、主料和味汁:
公式:烹法+主料(形状)+(with,in)味汁
例:红烧牛肉braised beef with brown sauce

三、以形状或口感开头的翻译方法

四、以人名或地名开头的翻译方法
1、介绍菜肴的创始人(发源地)和主料

2、介绍菜肴的创始人(发源地)、烹法和主料
公式:人名(地名)+烹法+主料
例:东坡煨肘DongPo stewed pork joint
北京烤鸭Roast Beijing Duck
在中餐菜名翻译成英文的过程中,可以采用多种不同的方法,而且每一道菜都可以从不同的角度入手进行翻译。例如,川菜中的"宫保鸡丁"这道菜就有以下几种译法:
1.sauteed chicken cubes with peanuts
2.Gongbao chicken cubes
3.diced chicken with chilli and peanuts

由此可见,中餐菜名的英译方法是灵活多变的。至于我们在翻译中应该采用哪种方法,可根据各人的习惯和具体情况确定。不过根据笔者的经验,只要掌握了第一种以主料开头的翻译方法,对其它种类的翻译方法便可以触类旁通,我们只需根据文中所列出的翻译公式去相应作一些交换就行了。

经过长达一年的“烹制”,旨在解决外国奥运观众点菜难题的《中文菜单英文译法》终于正式“出炉”,即将被送各国来华外宾的餐桌前。
《中文菜单英文译法》是为提高奥运会期间服务接待水平,规范北京市饭店业、餐饮业菜单英文译法,而由北京市人民政府外事办公室和北京旅游局编辑出版,对中国常见的2000余个菜品、主食小吃、甜点、酒类的名字做了英文的翻译。

和老美去酒吧喝酒聊天是件很有趣的事. 因为每当大家三杯下肚之后, 一些有的没的、不常不会讲的小秘密或是一些不为人知的心酸故事都可以在这时候听到. 所以这是一个能够交到知心朋友的好地方. 只不过老美的酒吧通常都不是很舒适, 不但很吵很挤空气很糟, 而且还常常有人喜欢站著喝酒, 所以我去了几次之后反而很怀念国内那些很高雅又气派的酒吧. 这次我们要来看看如果有一天你和老美到一个酒吧去喝酒, 有哪些东西是你该会的.

1. Do you like to have a drink with us? 你要不要和我们去喝两杯啊?
Drink 这个字虽然是「喝」的意思, 但是如果没有指明是喝水 (drink water) 或是喝其它的东西, 则多半指的是喝酒 (drink alcohol) 的意思. 所以如果别人邀请你 "Wanna have a drink with us?" 你可别呆呆地回答, "Drink what?" 那可是会笑死人的的喔! 另外像是如果听到某人有很严重的 drinking problem, 指的就是他有「酗酒」的习惯啦! 而不是说他喝东西有问题. 不过在速食店的话是一个例外, 因为大家都知道速食店是不卖酒的. 所以如果店员问你, "What kinds of drinks do you want?" (你要什么饮料?) 则很明显的这个 drinks 指的是 soft drinks 的意思.

2. I'll buy you a drink. 我请你喝一杯吧. 如果想跟老美建立友谊, 有时候不妨略施小惠. 请人家喝杯小酒, 人家会很感激的. 要不然就是当你看到隔壁桌坐了一个美丽漂亮的小妞, 这时也可以赶紧凑过去说, "I'll buy you a drink." 说不定会有什么艳遇也说不定喔. 不过在老美的观念里, 你请人家就算是泼出去的水, 别人通常是不会回请的. 这跟中国人抢著付帐或是这次我请你, 下次你请我这种礼尚往来的习俗有很大的不同.
另外「请客」的说法还有很多种, 例如比较常听到的有, "It's on me." (算我的好了) 或是 "My treat." (我请客). 以前在学校老师教的, "Be my guest." (当我的客人吧!) 也有人这样用, 不过很少听到就是了.

3. Draft, please. 请给我生啤酒.
要喝酒不能不知道一些酒的种类. 例如最普遍的是啤酒 (beer), 葡萄酒 (wine), 鸡尾酒 (cocktail), 以及烹饪时常用的莱姆酒 (rum). 不过有趣的一点是, 在台湾大家耳熟能详的 XO 在美国好像不是很多人知道? 我曾跟几个好美谈过 XO, 但是他们看来是连听都没听过. (见注1) Draft 是啤酒的一种, 中文翻译作「生啤酒」, 我这么说大家就会有些概念吧! 生啤酒通常是装在一个大桶子里, 要喝的时候水龙头 (tap) 一扭就是好大的一杯啤酒 , 所以酒吧的门口常常挂著斗大的 "On Tap" 招牌, 就是由此而来 此外老美们还喜 □ w用一种超大像是一颗球一样的杯子来装生啤, 这种杯子英文叫 "fishbowl". 以其大小跟鱼缸一样而得名.

4. Do you want domestic or imported beer? 你是要国产的还是进口的啤酒. 如果你是第一次来到一个酒吧想点杯啤酒, 但却对啤酒一点概念也没有. 通常这时候别人就会问你是要, "Domestic or imported?" 简而言之就是问你要国产啤酒或是进口啤酒啦. 像是 Bud Lite, Budweiser 是在美国生产的, 所以属于国产酒 (domestic) , 如果像 Heineken 是在荷兰生产的, 那自然就是 imported 了!

有趣的是美国人的崇洋媚外心态也是很强的, 至少以我本身的经验, 如果你和老美出去点了一个 Bud Lite, 别人可是会觉得你很「逊」的喔!

5. My favorite beer is from a microbrewer. 我最喜欢的啤酒是一家小酿造厂出产的.
那你要喝什么样的酒才算「酷」呢? 最好是一些越小越没人知道的厂牌越好, 这样表示你的品味与众不同. 这种小酒厂老美就称之为 microbrewer. 另外如果你要更「酷」的话, 你可以说 "I like craft beer" (我喜欢手工酿造的啤酒) 或是有一 □ 荤□□i, 有一个老美说, "I usually brew beer in my home." (我都是自己酿酒的) 结果此话一出, 果然大家立刻就对他另眼相看, 争相问他啤酒要怎么作?

6. Make it two. 再给我另一杯.
有些情况例如你原来已经点了一杯酒, 但是后来想到还有另一个人跟你点同样的, 所以应该要点二杯才对, 这时候你会怎么说呢? "Give me another one?" 呵呵, 这样说当然也没错啦. 不过我听老美在这种情况下喜欢用 make 这个动词. 你看 "Make it two." 不是很简单明了吗?

当然 make it two 这句话还有很多意思, 例如原来有三个人约好要出去玩, 可是你希望不要有电灯泡, 这时你可以说, "Can we make it two?" 意思就是我们可不可以二个人去? 或者另一种用法例如两个人原来约三点见面, 但是你觉得三点太晚了, 这时你就可以说, "Can we make it two?" (可以改二点吗?) 记得在电视剧 "Friends" 里有一集就有跟这句双关语有关的剧情. 不知道看过的人有没有印象?

7. I am still sober. 我还很清醒.
有一个道理大家都知道, 喝醉的人很少说自己醉的说. 如果你要说自己醉了的话 , 就是 "I am drunk." 或是俚语的讲法可以把 drunk 换成像是 afloat, all at sea, bashed, belted 或是 boozed. 但如果你坚持自己是清醒的话, 就是, "I am sober." 要是你要强调自己非常清醒的话, 则可以说, "I am stone sober." 或是 "I am cold sober." 还有一个跟酒醉有关的字叫 hangover, 中文翻成宿醉, 也就是指喝醉酒后隔天早上醒来头痛等等的症状. 例如你一早醒来发现头痛得不得了, □ N可以说, "I've got a hangover. Having a hangover sucks." (我还在宿醉啦. 宿醉真讨厌.

在此顺道提醒各位, 在美国对于酒后驾车的处罚非常重, 所以酒后千万不能开车, 如果只是小酌的话, 老美都会再三提醒我, 一罐啤酒至少要休息一个小时后才能开车, 二罐至少要休息二个小时候才能开车, (因地而异, 像 Virginia 每个人可以喝的啤酒数与体重成正比) 喝超过三罐的话就绝对不能开车, 不然是会被控 DWI (driving while intoxicated) 或是有些地方说 DUI (Driving under influence), 是会被抓去关起来的.

8. If you want to puke, just go ahead. 如果你想吐的话, 就去吧.
「吐」这个动作在英文里叫 puke 或 throw up, 俚语的讲法则是 toss (up) one's cookie. 一般人比较容易犯的毛病是把 throw up 说成 throw out. 因为感觉上「吐」是往外吐而不是往上吐, 所以我自己也常搞不清楚应该是 throw up 或是 throw out.

9. Do you smoke pot? 你有吸大麻吗?
通常有酒的地方就会有烟, 有烟的地方就会有毒品, 这几个东西都是分不开的. 所以像在酒吧里「毒品」也常是一个热门的话题. 其中老美最常用的毒品就是大麻 (marijuana), 像前一阵子天王歌后 Whitney Houston 还在夏威夷机场被查出持有大麻, 结果被罚款了事.

但是 marijuana 这个字听来像是专有名词, 一般人都直接简称 pot. 所以别人问你 , "Do you smoke pot?" 就是问你有没有吸大麻的意思. 许多老美在年轻的时候都有抽过大麻, 像是现在的美国总统柯林顿就是其中之一, 所以如果你听到别人在讲说谁谁谁 smoke pot 时也无需太过惊讶啦!

10. If you have to ask that chick out, you have to talk smooth. 如果你想约那个女的出去, 你必须花言巧语些.
许多人对于酒吧这种地方的第一印象就是除了在那里喝喝酒之外, 就是会有一些很美丽的邂遘. 不过事情通常都不会像电影里演得那么顺利. 上次有个老美教我一些小技巧, 他说如果你要在酒吧约不认识的女孩的话, 首先 "You have to talk smooth. " 这个 talk smooth 就相当于我们所说的花言巧语一样, 讲些好听的话让女孩子高兴. 通常很会说花言巧语的人我们还可以叫他们 smooth talker 或是 smooth operator. 再来, "You have to hide your fin." 大家都看过鲨鱼吧? 当它游过来时大家都知道它来了, 为什么? 因为他的鳍 (fin) 露在水面上, 一看就知. 所以 hide your fin 这句话的意思就是说不要打草惊蛇, 切莫在一开始就把你的动机让她给看穿, 这样子猎物才有到手的机会.
