目前有2500句，应该还会扩充，朋友读博时教授给的，至于什么级别也说不上，总之据朋友说这些词汇还是比较常用的，若掌握了，读读报，看看原版著作，写写论文将不成问题！
关键是把词汇放到短句里去记忆，事半功倍，对写作也有益。我们常说“熟读唐诗三百首，不会作诗也会吟”，我朋友坚持完成了，现在据说写作已经能体现文采了！呵呵！

一直找个机会分享自己关于几个常用词典的看法和使用心得，今天遇到的第297句是一个很好的例子：

以下为各大词典对于scrupulous 的解释：

金山：
adj. 严谨的； 小心的； 良心不安的； 有顾忌的

有道：
adj. 细心的；小心谨慎的；一丝不苟的

海词：
adj.小心谨慎的；细心的；严谨的

牛津：
adjective (of a person or process) diligent, thorough, and extremely attentive to details:

韦氏：
1: having moral integrity : acting in strict regard for what is considered right or proper
2: punctiliously exact : painstaking <working with scrupulous care>

朗文：
1 very careful to be completely honest and fair [≠ unscrupulous]:
2 doing something very carefully so that nothing is left out

首先，如果按照几个中英词典的解释，小心的，严谨的，一丝不苟的，那么第297句就无法合理的翻译。什么叫做“一个不那么小心的（严谨的，一丝不苟的）人就不会把钱归还给失主”？

只有把scrupulous 理解为讲道德的，诚信的，甚至有些拘谨的，才能正确表达原文的意思。

这层意思，只在韦氏和朗文中出现，连牛津都没有。相比之下，韦氏的定义更为精准，但其用来解释的词汇和表达方式也更为复杂。而朗文的释义就简明扼要得多。

所以我个人首选的词典就是朗文。

另外一个原因就是，朗文词典有一个非常之好的iphone/ipod/ipad版本，是我在用过的所有手机词典中最棒的一个。原汁原味的保留了原字典的所有内容，包括例句，搭配，近反义词等等，并且充分利用iphone的特点而提供了大量的内置图片以及视频链接。

朗文的几个不足：
1、没有中文解释（这个貌似不太重要）
2、没有生词本
3、没有类似“云”的同步功能

于是，从功能性的角度出发，我的第二选择是海词。

1、海词可以在任何网页实现类似金山的“划词翻译”功能。详见：

2、海词在登录后可以在任何地方同步单词本。
3、海词有大量的例句。

但海词的iphone版本有个最大的问题，必须要联网才能使用。所以在手机上我会用有道作为中文词典的补充。优点是体积小但容量特别大，目前还没遇到过查不出的生词。但是内容嘛，就真的只能是作为参考了。

另外，有几个专用的词典不得不说。一个是牛津搭配词典（Oxford Collocation Dictionary），这是我的LINC老师所大力推荐的。主要是用于查找常见词汇的固定搭配，写作必备。另外一个是Urban Dictionary，各种里语（抱歉，那个字打不出来）黑话土话一应俱全，海外生活有时还是得学两招。

最后说一下巴比伦。其实babylon严格说来不是一个词典，而是词典软件。它本身是不带词典的，但它可以挂载任何一个主流的词典，并且不分语种。例如，我就选择了朗文，韦氏作为英文词典，拉鲁斯作为法文词典。现代中英，现代中法作为中译英，中译法的词典。这样在我输入一个汉字时，就会同时显示各个词典的，多个语种的解释。对于魁省的朋友尤其实用。

总结一下，我目前纸质词典用的是朗文简明，家里的pc上有巴比伦做离线词典，浏览网页时用海词来划线翻译，手机上用朗文和有道。公司里就用朗文和海词的网络版。
