总结一下

学术性工作最难找:
要求学历高,助理教授要北美或欧洲博士学位以上,三位有时是五位REFERENCE,面试过程长,一般为一天,有PRESENTATION,竞争激烈,但好处是职位稳定

联邦政府工作也属最难找:
一般要本科以上,有些要研究生,但很多要双语,有些要考试JUDGEMENT,WRITTEN COMMUNICATION,考试等,要公民,还有背景调查,军队安全机构和警官属这一类,职位稳定,

公司工作最容易找:
国际化大公司职位多,如在中国的分公司工作过,机会就大,如电讯,IT行业,小公司最容易找,一般公司急着要人,缺点是不稳定,

专业工作难找:
在加拿大,律师,医生,教师,会计师,图书馆员,时装设计师,各类工程师称为PROFESSIONAL,也叫专业人士,这类行业对学位有严格要求,如律师一定要本科是法律,教师本科一定要教育学,图书馆员除了有一其他学科本科学位还要有ALA-ACCREDITED的MLS,另有行业执照考试证书,严格意义上讲,其他专业只是(MAJOR,discipline), 此专业不是彼专业(PROFESSIONAL),但一般把IT从业人员也归为PROFESSIONAL

非专业技能性工作好找:
各类TECHNICIAN,薪水有的甚至比专业人士高,关键是你要有本事,如水暖工,一般COLLEGE就可

各类专业助理工作好找:
律师助理,图书馆员助理,牙医助理等,一般COLLEGE的DIPLOMA或加上TRAINNING就可

各类一般性办公室工作好找:
数据录入,秘书,一般高中文凭就可

各类体力工作好找:不需文凭不需经验

不是很清楚,不过试想一下,西人会那么容易把工程交给你吗?质量和信誉,你没CREDIT啊,但卖建材倒是有可能的.另外有建筑工程方面的硕士学位或博士学位在建族设计公司能找到薪水很好的专业工作,当然如你有北美经验加上语言沟通能力.

给大家一个希望: 等你有了一份工作经验后,再找工作就容易多了.得到面试就如打个电话一样简单

这是我最近写的一篇短文

(27)世上无难事,只要肯登攀

自从有了换个工作的念头后,我就每天都会到专业的就业广告网站上瞄上两眼。因为现在我正干的这份专业工作也是一份长期连续职位,而且做得也比较得心应手了,所以换工作对我来说只是一种长期战略目标,不需要急功近利。这样一来,找工作就轻松多了,随便看了看,觉得到处贴满了工作广告,机会好似是多了许多,感觉也大不一样,和当初找第一份工时的焦虑真有天壤之别。

既然自我感觉这么好,我就给自己定了几个原则,因为还是想进大学或政府机构,所以至少这一条就是硬性的,其次要找永久性或是连续性的职位,相当于助理教授以上,几个硬性条件一框,就筛掉了一大批如合同类,期限类,经费受制类,非学术性类等等诸如此类的广告。要知道这些职位在当初刚毕业时是哪个也不会轻易放弃的,有的甚至稍稍沾上点边我也会绞尽脑汁写出牵强附会的申请投过去,美其名曰天罗地网,广种薄收。想想当初也真是无奈啊,走投无路了,什么奇招都会想的出来,真是一丁一点也不想轻言放弃。比如美国的学校常会寄确认信给我,顺便让我填一张调查表,问我在哪看到的广告,这表就是一张明信片,在美国境内是免费的,但从加拿大寄过去就要贴六毛邮票,当初为了争取工作,这种调查表我也认真填好寄去,这样的申请信我寄过上百封,花了我不少冤枉钱,才得到了七八个面试,面试率是8%。

现在就不比往日了,这样的信我一概不回了,也不是每个广告都去申请,而是挑挑拣拣,要找很专业对口工作经验直接关联的职位,也算是一个挑战吧,所以我把这项行动起名为挑战者一号,所有资料放在我电脑上一个秘密的文档里。另外请了两位麦吉尔大学的教授和两三位同事做REFERENCE。两位教授都是有名望的长者,一位是我硕士学位的导师,他们都支持我找一份学术性的职位,所以邀请他们做我REFERENCE的电子邮件一发过去,立刻就得到了正面的回音。我导师还专门和我通了电话,一番勉励之后,更指出我讲话声音要高一些硬一些。因为我以前讲话都比较平。面试时讲话较平较软,老外会觉得你没自信。我又重新搞了一份简历,斟字酌句也凑了两页。一切准备就序,就等倒计时“点火升空”了。

目前为止,选到了三个有兴趣的美国大学招聘全职系统图书馆员的广告。一封申请昨天刚刚寄出,广告截止期还有一个月,早着呢,另一份也没到截止期。刚到截止期的一份立马就得到了现场面试邀请,对方将出来回机票和食宿交通费。现在雇主正在向REFERENCE了解情况,到目前为止面试得到率为100%。最后不管结果如何,我都无所谓了,反正有工作,不行就当免费旅行,增加点面试经历。

今天在办公室忙得连中饭也顾不着吃,下班回家时路过一个高尔夫球场,看到俱乐部门口停满了各种高档车。想想真是令人感慨,我们新移民尚在为找份工忙忙碌碌,而有钱人却闲得无聊靠打球打发时间。但我想,世上无难事,只要肯登攀。我们只要一步一步充满自信地走下去,总有一天我们也可开着车常常去打高尔夫球的。

如语言好很容易的,特别是TELEMARKETING

Telemarketing我觉得是一个dead-end job。如果喜欢做银行、电信公司的customer service,telemarketing也是一个不错的敲门砖。

北美名校的高学历是金字招牌,不好拿,首先是入学门坎高,其次是难读,不象国内抄抄弄弄就读出来了,这里PHD不读五年一般读不出来.
不好意思,不是看不起国内的高学历,主要是找工作不认可,这是现实.

谢谢,可惜我现在牙痛的厉害,今天去看急诊我的牙医不在,问了一下同事,去除一颗牙的牙神经保留牙齿的话要一千加元左右.做牙科医生好啊!好在急诊保险还是可以COVER的.

MODERN CHINESE LITERATURE​

可以的,这类学校太多了,有的中文学校规模较大,中国大使馆教育处还免费提供教材呢.竞争太大.饼就那么大.一般是华裔子弟星期六来上半天课,平常晚上再搞些补习班,有的人还教琴教画画舞蹈下棋什么的

如果你英文好,应该好找的,国内的学位就看你在行业里有没有名,如没有,要读一个加国的,找到工作的话,起薪不错的,很好的工作.

市场上一般要有经验的.JR职位不多,有的人为了申请同一学科的硕士就只提交本科成绩申请

我在国内读的是建筑工程 即 structural engineering 学校没什么名气 ,如果要读书的话,您觉得读什么学历对找工作有帮助,硕士?还是只要再读一个本科就可以了?

我写此贴时只不过有想法到美国大学工作,如今已梦想成真。到大学工作,你必须有良好的学术背景和工作经验。在大学,馆员的起步职位相当于助理教授,有的学校给这个头衔。总的来讲,面试过程和学术教学一样冗长,一般是一天,但比教学职位的竞争和要求要小一些。再加上运气,,就能到哈佛耶鲁等著名大学工作。

以前看过楼主的帖子,lz真是牛人!受到启发也想为女儿做个职业规划:在加上三年高中,传统学科(数理化)中上,但喜欢美术,明年上大学,选专业很难,这样上大学就学个科学、工程、生命科学之类的,将来向楼主方向发展。很想听听楼主高见,以少走弯路。谢谢!

谢谢及时回复!没想限制她,本人是学工程的,感觉女孩儿学工程不合适,药剂师、医学她又不喜欢,文科不是她的强项(在国内时文科成绩就比理科差一些),一直希望她学经济会计之类的,她也不喜欢,又希望她将来有个收入稳定的工作,好难啊!
